FAQ of Waxing

Brazilian wax often called a Full Bikini wax is a technique where most or all of the hair is removed from the bikini area. The following is a list of frequently asked questions about waxing or shaving your pubic area.

What is Brazilian bikini wax?
Brazilian waxingrefers to complete hair removal around the anus, perineum and vaina. In its original concept a strip of hair about two fingers wide is left in front. To some people it means removing all the hair from the bikini area. Technically this is a full bikini wax or Sphinx wax. The Brazilian wax technique has gained in popularity and is commonly done at home or in salons across the world.

This is an extremely initimate type of waxing and can be painful. It will only be performed after careful consultation. How closely you choose to trim, shave or wax your pubic hair is a personal preference. You should do whatever makes you comfortable, whether it's a totally bare look, a more natural look, or somewhere in betwen.

Why should I have a Brazilian Wax?
It allows men and women to comfortably wear revealing swimwear and lingerie. It has an air of excitement about it. It removes pubic hair as a bacteria and smell source.

What preparation is necessary before my Brazilian Wax?
For waxing to be effective your hair should be 1/8 to 1/4 inches long, depending on the thickness of the hair. You can do this at home if you prefer. This is, incidentally, the sort of length you need to use the intimate shaver.

Wehat do I wear while I have a Brazilian Wax?
Well onbviously nothing! If you are uncomfortable, the Brazilian wax can be done with a towel draped over your midsection. We offer paper things or paper panties, but these are generally ineffective. We recommend that you wear a comfortable pair of full cotton panties.

What is the procedure for Brazilian bikini waxing?
If necessary, the hair is initally shortened with scissors, then the wax is applied and removed a little at a time. The hair is removed with the wax and the procedure continues. In essence, the wax "shrink wraps" around the hairs and is pulled off with the entrapped hair after it dries or solidifies. Our Bazilian Wax is made for sensitive skin, so it's kind tot he delicate bikini area. While waxing, it's best to pull the skin tight, so you may need to help stabilize an area with your hand, especially when towards the middle of the labia where there's no firm bone or muscle underneath. Stray hairs may be cut, tweezed, trimmed or shaved. After the hairs are removed, a good moisturizer is recommended. A talcum or baby powder may be used as well.

Will I have to get into strange postions?
We need to get to all those "unmentionable" places - so, yes, you may have to get into the doggy style position, or the diaper changing position, to allow access for the removal of the hair. Remember that a traditional Brazilian Wax includes the labia and the area that reaches into the buttocks, so you have to expose your backside as well.

Will my Brazilian Wax hurt?
Yes, expect it to be sore. There is pain when you have a Brazilian Wax. Some people are pain tolerant and some people are not. A properly done Bikini Wax should not hurt too much, and if it's too painful or the thought of it is too painful you can always resort to a personal intimate shaver, which is pain free, and after-effect free. Some people take a couple of painkillets before coming in for a Brazilian Wax.

What are the possible side effects of Brazilian Bikini Waxing?
Every person is different, so its hard to predict exactly what will happen to you. Most people do not experience reactions beyond redness and minor irritation. Hair may break at the root during waxing, causing some hairs to grow out faster. The odd ingrown hair may occur. Wax burn may also occur if a heated wax is used at too high a temperature. We do have precautions against this eventuality, but occassionally it has ocurred.

What precautions should be taken after a Brazilian Wax?
  • Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and please wear sunscreen.   recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if too soon exposed to the sun.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours.
  • Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc.) and loofas for at least 24 hours after waxing
  • Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.
  • Regular exfoliation (after 24 hours) may be helpful, especially on leg and arm areas.
  • Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimize irritation
  • Products are available that can be applied topically to avoid ingrown hairs and condition the skin for better waxing results.

How long does a Brazilian bikini wax take?
A Brazilian Wax will take between forty-five and ninety minutes. Each person is different and factors like hair growth, hair density and skin sensitivity play an important role in how long it takes to complete your bikini wax.

How long will my Brazilian Wx last?
In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week. With regular waxing the length of time between treatments will increase. Continued waxing results in sparse hair regrowth. Accordingly, the result can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the individual's hair regrowth rate. Heat stimulates hair growth, therefore hair grows quicker in the summer than in the winter.
